Bighorn Lodge

Experience Colorado right out your own window!

Bighorn Lodge

An Intimate Colorado Resort

Jo Witchey was drawn to the splendor of the Rocky Mountains and moved from Mansfield, Ohio, to Denver, Colorado. In 1925,  Jo moved to Chalk Creek Canyon, where 14,000-foot peaks framed the valley. On an ascent of the Mount Princeton (14,197') she met a wrangler and hunting guide named Mark Love, whom she later married. They bought a small ranch in Chalk Creek Canyon, started a cabin camp for summer vacationers, and named it 'Love Ranch'. Jo stayed for over 40 years to run the ranch and entertain guests. Frequent guests were author of Roots, Alex Haley and President Dwight D. Eisenhower who visited the historic cabin at Love Ranch.

Bighorn Lodge is a newly built, custom log home is located on Love Ranch. The area is widely known for its extensive variety of wildlife including bighorn sheep, mule deer, elk and other various small game.

The log home is surrounded by stunning views of Mount Princeton and all of your favorite Colorado activities are

What Our Guests Say

“We had an incredible time staying at the lodge. It's close to the hot springs and a quick drive to Buena Vista, but it feels like its own paradise. We saw wildlife from the kitchen window every morning!”

“We planned to stay at Mt. Princeton Resort, but they were booked the dates of our trip. We found Bighorn Lodge and are so glad we did! It was incredibly romantic; perfect for celebrating our anniversary!”
